A couple have launched a major kitchen revamp in a bid to bring a Regency property into line with the cooking demands of the 21st century, according to the Times Online. The newspaper followed the adventures of John and Alison Hall as they grappled with an adventurous kitchen project and sought to create the kitchen of their dreams. The Greenwich homes kitchen was reworked by builders with a view to providing maximum work surfaces without interrupting the flow of light into the room.Alison told the newspaper I needed surfaces on which to roll out pastry and to chop and mix. I love cooking and wanted to be able to spread out and use plenty of bowls and dishes. To create the desired effect, a long central unit was formed with Nero Marquina marble, while a wall-hung side unit was added and a series of panels introduced to conceal the fridge and freezer.Alison added We havent added up the cost of having the storage and kitchen especially made, firstly because it was spread over four years and the projects were done a floor at a time, and secondly because we did it for a house that we both love.Kitchen sinks are often chosen on the basis of maximising surface space, with models such as the Carron Phoenix Carisma 400 offering a sleek circular style and a compact 450 mm width.
