A report by the Globe and Mail argued that consumers are now buying kitchen items that promise to do things their forebears in the kitchen could only dream of. For example, it referred to a new, hi-tech kitchen tap which dispenses water with just a tap of the hand on the spout great for when your hands are covered in flour, said the report. In addition, it observed that KitchenAid has designed a new refrigerator with a full-colour LCD screen which suggests ingredient substitutions and provides measurement conversions for recipes. Meanwhile, interior designer Connie Braemar told the news provider that kitchen appliances have become more self-contained, as seen in combination microwave and convection ovens that serve two purposes in one item and single dishwasher drawers for small loads. Last week, a report by the Windsor Star suggested that stainless steel kitchen sinks and appliances can increase the value of the room.
