Kitchen renovators offered security tips

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

Homeowners who may be attempting kitchen DIY or other renovation jobs have been advised to install industry-approved locks and an alarm system in an effort to secure their property.Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive at the British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA), noted that buying industry-approved locks can help people to get a discount on insurance.Have them fitted by a proper fitter and, if the budget permits, go [for] an alarm system as that is an extra deterrent, he added.Last week, Cheryl Franz, kitchen designer for Monroe Marble Granite in the US, told the Pocono Record that homeowners should draw up a detailed plan and budget ahead of any kitchen renovation, which could also include installing new kitchen sinks and taps.BIBAs advice comes after research by Mintel found that less than half of homeowners have installed extra window and door locks, while just three-quarters claim to be careful about locking their property when they leave the house.
