Kitchen owners want eclectic designs

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

Homeowners are using their kitchen design to express their personalities through unique combinations, an expert has said.Neil Wertheimer, editor-in-chief of Fresh Home magazine, wrote for Newsobserver.com that people are now adopting a range of design styles within their kitchens. It used to be that a single material, colour or architectural style dominated kitchen designs. Today, whats most popular is eclecticism - the use of many different styles working together seamlessly, he said.Mr Wertheimer said that this effect could be achieved by changing drawer or cabinet handles, by adding a surprising light fixture or by painting cabinet doors alternate colours.Other popular kitchen design trends identified by Mr Wertheimer included the use of eco-friendly such as the use of recycled glass countertops around kitchen sinks.Mr Wertheimer also said that mixed lighting is now being increasingly adopted, adding that kitchen designers are now prone to add lighting in layers such as recessed ceiling lights for ambient brightness, spots or pendants that light a specific work space and accent lighting to provide mood. Frankie Cameron, national account manager for Bellacor Lighting, recently told Journalgazette.net that in order to work in a variety of design styles, new lighting fixtures should not be too extravagant.ADNFCR-1321-ID-19539830-ADNFCR
