Bomb in sink woman finds further explosives

A woman who found a bomb in her Norfolk garden and washed it in her kitchen sink has discovered more explosives. Carole Longhorn found a World War II bomb in the garden of her Melton Constable home last month and decided to clean it in the sink before alerting police. She found two similar objects in her garden last Saturday but, this time, left them where she found them. A bomb squad was called and three further devices were also discovered. All five were detonated in a controlled explosion. Mrs Longhorn was gardening in the same area she had been in previously when she struck metal once more. I brought it up and woe betide - another bomb, she said. Then I put my fingers in the ground and I thought Yeah, heres another one. Clive and Carole Longhorn, who were evacuated while 5131 Squadron from RAF Wittering searched the garden, believe their garden could have been used as a cache by the Home Guard Speaking of the first bomb she discovered in June, Mrs Longhorn said I nearly dropped it on the concrete. I took it the window and he [Clive] said bring it indoors, because he couldnt see what I was on about. I took it in to him and he said bleep bleep bleep, get that outside and well wash it. I didnt hear the outside bit and washed it in the sink. He heard me rumbling about and said get that bleep bleep bleep outside, Id better call the police. She took a few precautions, Mr Longhorn said. She put a plastic seat on the top in case it went off. A spokesman at RAF Wittering said all five projectiles were similar to those found at the Longhorns garden in June. He urged anyone who found a suspected explosive device to not touch it or move it and to call 999.
