Zero carbon home features grey-water recycling scheme

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

Eco-design is now one of the leading innovators in kitchen and home plans and a new blueprint for a zero-carbon home has experimented with new concepts of water management and waste disposal.A prefabricated zero carbon house named RuralZED has been equipped with a grey-water recycling system that recycles water from sinks, baths and showers and reuses it for flushing the toilet and watering the garden.Claiming to have produced the first commercially viable zero carbon home, designer ZEDFactory unleashed the product at recent green construction show Ecobuild 2008.The standard model envisaged for mass production would feature low water fittings and full water recycling, while the RuralZED design would be ready for the addition of solar water heating facilities, ensuring that the hot water gushing out of kitchen and bathroom taps has no carbon footprint.Aside from its advanced water management, the basic green home blueprint features a hybrid laminated timber frame, heavy insulation, a green roof and low-energy lighting. And in addition to solar panels, those wishing to add new environmental features to the base model can benefit from passive heat recovery ventilation, a rainwater tank and even wind turbines for the micro-generation of electricity.ADNFCR-1321-ID-18510113-ADNFCR
