Eco-friendly, wooden kitchen sinks were recently on show at a design exhibition in the US.The Chicago Tribune reported from the Kitchen Bath Industry Show, which took place in the city between April 16th-18th. The newspaper described the event as eye candy for its industry, when manufacturers trot out the designs they hope will be the next big thing for homeowners to pour money into.It pointed to the wooden kitchen sink as one of the most innovative creations at the exhibition, adding that several sink manufacturers are now using wood as a green alternative to porcelain or stainless steel.According to the paper, Chicago-based firm Lenova has made a classic apron-fronted farmhouse sink from eco-friendly bamboo which it claims is sturdy enough to withstand the weight and clanking of pots and pans.It was also reported that kitchen designers at the show have seen a rise in the demand for their services in recent months as the economy recovers. This week, interior designer Cynthia Bennett told dailybreeze.com that kitchen renovators are becoming increasingly eco-conscious and are now able to recycle and find new uses for most old kitchen equipment.ADNFCR-1321-ID-19748343-ADNFCR
