Landlords have been given further clarification about the environmentally-friendly improvements that may be needed for their sink accessories and other home appliances.The new Green Deal offers more information for businesses in the housing sector about what the governments policy is, which puts pressure on landlords to upgrade their property, according to the UK Green Building Council.A second reading of the energy bill earlier this week will require landlords to ensure rented properties meet a certain level of energy efficiency from 2016, perhaps by installing double glazing or modern sink accessories to improve efficiency.Council director of policy and communications John Alker added Although its slightly counter intuitive it actually provides a bit of additional certainty for landlords, because they know they have to do this, they have five or six years to do it, [and] they can plan ahead.He added that a degree of regulation for the housing industry is definitely tolerable, because it sets out the direction of travel and provides landlords with something to aim for.
