What Colours are Hot in the Kitchen Right Now

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

What is the best way forward when choosing a colour scheme for your new kitchen? In recent years, a neutral palette seems to have been favoured among those in the kitchen design world, and it is a trend which looks set to continue. When it comes to kitchen cabinets, white is very much in vogue at the moment, whether it be the clean crisp appearance of brilliant white, or the slightly less stark off white. As one of the main features of your kitchen, your cabinets are going to do little to bring colour into your home. Likewise worktops are unlikely to do much to brighten your kitchen, sleek worktops of marble and granite are very much the order of the day, or for those going for a more natural country effect a wood finish may be in order. For traditional kitchens, paint manufacturer Mylands have created a stunning range of traditional colours including those used on the Downton Abbey set. Likewise, Dulux have created an authentic origins range which enables you to bring a timeless palette to your walls. Sink and tap manufacturers are making an effort to bring a touch of inspiration to your kitchen. Some manufacturers, such as Villeroy and Boch, are now manufacturing sinks in a variety of stone effect finishes, with co-ordinating taps in matching colours, while others are finding alternative ways to bring rich colour into your kitchen. Take for example Carron Phoenix, whose stunning Samoa range is available with co-ordinating glass covers in Zest Green or Vermeer Red. It is amazing how little colour you need to bring into your kitchen to make an impact. A pretty coloured tiled surround and a few carefully chosen storage jars and fruit bowls may be all you need to lift your kitchen. Alternatively, why not consider purchasing brightly coloured stools or light fittings to add a splash of colour. This season, it seems that no colour is off limits, the only requirement is that it be eye-catching and bold. Certainly the more popular colours are bright lime greens, vivid reds and stunning blues, yet it is also possible to find accessories and paints in pumpkin orange, sunflower yellow and raspberry pink. A quick trawl around the pages of kitchen designers can yield some interesting tips that you may otherwise overlook. Simple but effective tactics can be employed to enhance your kitchen and many do not cost a fortune. For example, if you are opting for a yellow kitchen then select bananas, grapefruit and lemons for your fruit bowl, if green then choose apples and grapes, it is amazing how these small attentions to detail can really enhance the look. It seems that for 2013, the trend in Kitchen design is not so set in stone as it has been in previous years, this years kitchens are more about accessorising, and going for a much more individual look. Take the blank canvas of neutral design and embellish it with your own personal touch. That way, you not only have a stunning and up to date kitchen, you also have one which is unique to you.suza
