A new campaign has been launched to promote the benefits of drinking water from the kitchen tap.London on Tap aims to see restaurants in the capital automatically offer customers water from the kitchen tap, rather than more pricey and environmentally-unfriendly plastic bottled water.Neil Barron, a London-based designer, created a tapered glass carafe that could look stylish on the tables of top London venues and can easily be filled up from the kitchen tap.And the campaign is also doing its bit for charity, with 1 from every sale of the carafe going to WaterAid.Commenting on the campaign to promote the kitchen tap rather than plastic bottles, chef Aldo Zilli, whose restaurant in Soho will be the first to use the carafe, said It is important to enthuse restaurateurs and diners about the great tap water that we have in this city and to realise that there is no stigma involved in choosing it over bottled water.Britons who want to start drinking water from their kitchen tap in order to reduce their carbon footprint may want to purchase a filter tap, which can improve the taste and appearance of tap water.
