Water customers to see bills rise

Households who obtain their water from Bournemouth and West Hampshire Water (BWHW) could see their bills rise by up to three per cent from April. The company reports it obtained consent for the increase from the industry regulator Ofwat. The rise will see consumers bill move up by an average of 6 per year.Tony Cooke, managing director of BWHW, said Despite the increase for metered customers the vast majority of customers with meters will continue to save money. On average metered bills are 36 per year lower than un-metered bills based upon rateable value. This move could encourage some households to employ money-saving methods to lower their water consumption, such as using a hot water tap such as those available from leading kitchen manufacturer In-Sink-Erator.The companys kitchen tap models deliver 98 degrees C steaming hot water on demand, which means the possible wastage generated by using a kettle could be eliminated.
