Homeowners in the UK are to see water bills rise by 13 a year, adding to the overall cost of utilities.According to consumer group uSwitch.com, the increase in water alongside rises in overall energy prices will add 353 to annual utility bills.Keeping a kitchen well heated and lit will now cost 1,595 a year. However, the firm suggested that switching to a water meter can help homeowners limit their water use and save money each month. If you do switch to a meter and then find it doesnt save you money you can always come back off it again, as long as you do so within a year, the uSwitchs home utilities expert Will Marples said. More importantly, those consumers who are advised by their water company that they cant have a meter installed can still request to have their charges assessed at a metered rate, which again means that they should see a reduction in their bill.
