Vintage finds value in improvised kitchen

Vintage items can prove valuable additions to kitchens and other areas of the home, it has been claimed. Interiors specialist Better Homes and Gardens (BHG) profiled a series of vintage item uses in the home, finding that there is plenty of room for bringing a touch of the classic into the modern kitchen. The site showcased a set of kitchen cabinets crafted from old art-supply cupboards from a school, while integrating laminate countertops trimmed with aluminum carpet-tacking strips.Below the cabinets the site trialled a graphic backsplash made from splinters of a vintage sign acquired from the back of a homeowners truck.BHG claimed that improvisation enlivens the interior at every turn, even singling out the kitchen sink for a touch of vintage styling by positioning an old rubber puppet head on top of a stainless steel model.Additionally, readers were told that when buying a vintage sink itself, it would be wise to count the holes in order to ensure that securing the perfect sink does not mean sacrificing the desired tap model, especially if choosing taps with a separate sprayer.
