Homeowners who have little space or want a streamlined kitchen design without radiators may be interested in installing underfloor heating.Chief executive of Hetas Bruce Allen said kitchen lovers were not restricted by the type of fuel they use and technologies that use lower-grade water were suitable as lower temperatures were used in underfloor systems. In some circumstances underfloor systems offer an excellent solution where there is no space for radiators or the occupier does not want the wall space taken up, he continued.Furthermore, Mr Allen said hidden systems were not just for new homes but could be equally effective in older properties, suggesting fans of modern decor do not have to move to a new home to get up-to-the-minute kitchen style. Underfloor heating appears to be increasingly popular, with the Domestic Heating Market UK 2007 report estimating a market of 1.81 billion in terms of manufacturers selling prices in 2006, a 1.7 per cent increase on the previous year.
