Dark woody colours will be taking the kitchen by storm this year, according to kitchen manufacturer Sigma 3.A recent survey from the firm found that two-thirds of people are now choosing the kitchen over the dining room for entertaining guests with food and grainy, walnut-style woods are said to create the perfect mood.The firm also claimed that people are spending more and more on their kitchens, meaning that for many, a luxurious woody feel may not be off limits.Sigma 3 Marketing manager Paula Morris said Were definitely seeing a surge in popularity in natural wood, in dark, sumptuous colours.Whereas these used to be seen as heavy and overpowering, the new trend in dark timber such as rich walnut couldnt be further away. Walnut works in both contemporary and traditional kitchens. And while the colour was rich and warm, she added that this mood could be replicated by curvy shaping, explaining that curved surface edges are also ideal for kitchens frequented by children.
