Third of Brits plan kitchen refit

Almost one-third (29 per cent) of all Britons have undertaken or are planning a kitchen refit this year, as many homeowners revamp their current property rather than move house.Furthermore, nearly half (44 per cent) of those planning a new kitchen will carry out the work themselves.According to insurance firm LV=, the average spend on home improvements is 5,249.But it is urging those hoping to save money by installing their new kitchen themselves to inform their insurance company and check anyone employed to undertake renovation work is fully insured.Spokesperson Emma Holyer says we are a nation obsessed with our homes and what money we can make on them.Many homeowners told us they were spending this money so they could profit more on their homes when they do come to sell them after the market has stabilised.Recent figures from the Halifax show that almost half (44 per cent) of homeowners expect their home improvements to add up to 5,000 to the value of their property.ADNFCR-1321-ID-18661264-ADNFCR
