Think of your cooking style when designing a new kitchen

Homeowners looking to design a new kitchen have been advised to think about their day to day use of the kitchen, from breakfast until dinner, to create a room perfectly tailored to them.Writing for the Boston Globe, Arrol Gellner advised consumers to measure the room and try out a few layouts of their ideas.Imagine cooking breakfast in each version, paying careful attention to small details such as where you store the cereal, silverware, coffee mugs, and so on, he wrote. Is the microwave in a convenient spot? Where will the coffeemaker go? The coffee? The bread? The toaster? Minor as these things seem, they can spell the difference between a kitchen thats a pleasure to work in and one thats a daily pain. However, Mr Gellner did stress that the old rules of kitchen design do still apply - that of the triangle workspace, kitchen sink, oven and fridge - and that the space is not interrupted by people passing through.
