When making home improvements, such as undertaking a kitchen redesign, it is important to take energy efficiency into account, it has been claimed.According to the National Home Improvement Council, improvements such as adding a kitchen extension are very sensible, but it is important to take issues such as water conservation into consideration when making them.In this day and age, they [homeowners] should seriously be looking at improving the energy efficiency of their property and that is the thing which in the future is going to [provide] the most advantage [in terms] of increased prices and value in a property, the bodys director Andrew Leech said.Mr Leechs comments follow research by Shelter and the Royal Institute of British Architects which found that just 12 per cent of homeowners seeking to improve their property want to make it more environmentally friendly or energy efficient. The main motivation for home improvements was found to be making the most of space and improving the look of their property.
