The role of kitchen sinks is evolving

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

The role of the kitchen sink is changing as the way people use their kitchens changes, it has been suggested.According to American newspaper The Daily Journal, as the dishwasher becomes an increasing common feature in kitchens, the traditional work triangle, referring to the flow between the refrigerator, stove and sink, is different for families now than in previous generations.Secondary sinks located on an island in the middle of the kitchen are becoming a more popular feature, which lend themselves to a variety of different uses, such as keeping drinks, glasses or canaps chilled for a dinner party. And as the housing market slows down, people are more willing to improve their existing kitchen than move house as they seek to enhance their homes. The functional needs are changing and the aesthetics of the sink are also changing, explains kitchen products expert Michele Meierhofer.Design-lead manufacturers such as Franke and Perrin Rowe offer a range of smaller or secondary sinks which could be incorporated into a renovated kitchen in this way. With a range of styles and finishes, the market certainly has a selection of models which could suit every taste.ADNFCR-1321-ID-18837537-ADNFCR
