The kitchen sink can be a work of art, says plumber

People can add style and interest to their homes by installing decorative kitchen sinks and taps, it has been suggested.Master contractor and plumber Ed Del Grande, who has hosted TV shows on the US-based Scripps Networks and HGTVPro.com, said that such decorative fixtures can be used to inspire creativity by giving the room a solid, art-themed base.Writing for the Evansville Courier Press, Mr Del Grande noted that embedded artistic patterns on sinks can include florals, geometrics and special-interest themes. For the most part, the three most popular material choices for artist-edition fixtures can be vitreous china, fireclay (similar to china) and enameled cast iron, he said. Handcrafted metal materials, like hammered copper, may also be considered a decorative fixture choice.Mr Del Grande also observed that the artistic theme can be extended by adding matching faux paintings on the walls of the room or matching taps. The advice comes after kitchen designer Cheryl Franz recently told the Pocono Record that homeowners should draw up a detailed plan and budget ahead of any kitchen makeover.
