Manchester United footballer Gary Neville has lodged plans to build an 8 million eco-friendly mansion with a large central kitchen.Mr Neville, a known environmentalist, will build the 8,000 square foot property next to his current 12-bedroom home on a former farmstead in Lancashire.Solar panels, a wind turbine and a ground source heat pump will provide power for both properties, helping to reduce their environmental impact. In addition, most of the new mansion will be built underground in line with its advanced, hi-tech design. The buildings expansive kitchen will be the hub of the home and will be divided into different wings with names like eat, relax, entertain, work, sleep and play. These will be arranged around the central area like petals on a flower.Discussing new kitchen designs this week, commentator Kate Watson-Smyth wrote for the Independent that the distance between the kitchen sink, cooker and fridge also known as the kitchen triangle is still a measure of the perfect design.
