The importance of the kitchen triangle

Kitchen design experts refer to the sink, oven and fridge as the kitchen work triangle and recommend that this area is never obstructed. Of the three vital kitchen components, your sink and taps will see the most action and must be in the most practical place with easiest access and ideally, your sink should also be close to your most used worktop space. An important consideration is your sink being installed close to existing plumbing as possible to reduce work. The fridge or fridge freezer should have its doors set so they dont open into the triangle legs but out to the edge and the oven must be accessible without having to shimmy to use it. Regardless of the size of your kitchen and its layout, the total length of all the legs in the work triangle should be greater than 10 feet and less than 25 feet. If your work triangle is too small, people working in the kitchen will be tripping over each other. If it is too large, food preparation and cooking will become a laborious task.
