The dos and donts of kitchen makeovers

The last few months have seen a significant increase in kitchen makeovers. Whilst renovating your kitchen can be a hugely rewarding project, it also requires investment and a certain amount of disruption. Here are some tips to make your kitchen makeover go as smoothly and economically as possible. First of all, consider the season. If you want to fit air-conditioning, buy your materials before the summer months arrive, when materials can get expensive. Do your retiling and refitting during the DIY store sales and give yourself the best chance of bagging some bargains. Dont focus too much on the superficial and cosmetic until you have got the basics right. In other words, make sure you opt for the right kitchen sink and taps, oven and refrigerator etc. before you start thinking about colour schemes and wall coverings. Make sure you hire experienced and qualified professionals to carry out the work. The more experienced they are, the more likely they are to anticipate issues and difficulties before they arrive. Make sure you have a design plan and stick to it, unless there is good reason not to. Changing your mind half way through a project can prove costly.
