Tap water taste test produces a Midlands winner

A surprising winner has emerged in the contest to discover the British region with the tastiest tap water. The best tap water comes not from the hard northern or soft southern waters but from the Midlands and the city of Coventry. A team of judges, which included Mindy Dulai from the Royal Society of Chemistry, sampled water from 10 UK locations and declared Coventrys blend of vegetal and salty water as the winner. Water samples were drawn on the same day and kept in the same bottles. The judges praised Coventrys water as being good on the nose with a clean light smell and a slightly salty taste. Its mineral-filled aftertaste also left drinkers with a drier mouth-feel than samples from other areas and beat Bristols peppery product Suffolks unremarkable water as well as the waters from Glasgow, Lancashire and North Yorkshire. The panel also enjoyed the water from Hassocks, Brighton, with its hint of seaweed and that originating from Giffnock, Glasgow, which was described as being big bodied and very smooth. Tap water contains minerals, including calcium and magnesium, that define whether water is hard or soft. Apart from waters mineral content, dissolved gasses also influence its taste. If you water doesnt taste as good as Coventrys then why not look at a Filter Tap to improve the taste.
