Not many people dream of exchanging a modern kitchen for an old-fashioned Victorian version but there are exceptions to every rule.and quirky spinster Julia Wood is one of them. The unusual 42-year-old has spent more than 10,000 turning back time and transforming her terraced house into a Victorian alternative, complete with Victorian kitchen, sink, Edwardian day bed, wood-burning stove, antique tub chair and black fridge. Miss Wood has revealed that she lives her entire life like a 19th century lady. She can often be seen leaving her home dressed in an ankle-length velvet dress and carrying a parasol. The self-confessed eccentric has transformed all five rooms of her Leicester property by introducing late 19th and early 20th century decor. She said I must have a Victorian or Edwardian aura. I was just born in the wrong era. But Downton Abbey has changed things lately. Sales of long gloves have gone up hugely, I understand. All of a sudden, Im in fashion. I couldnt live in a modern house. I would rather live on the street. My soul would leave my body if I lived in a 21st century house, she added.
