Small kitchens need visual illusions

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

With the average kitchen too small to house expansive appliances and provide space for extra surfaces, design strategies need to focus on ways to maximise the sense of existing space, it has been claimed. The UK Kitchens Bathrooms Bedrooms Specialist Association (KBSA) website claimed that average kitchens were much smaller than the luxurious cooking areas featured in home magazines making design choices all the more crucial.Addressing the problem of tight spatial limits, the site claimed that good designers were still able to work wonders with small spaces, especially when simple visual effects were taken advantage of. KBSA told DIYers and budding designers to choose light like whites or pastels to give an illusion of space and make the kitchen a more pleasant environment to cook and eat in than it might otherwise be.As well as offering a more classic and homely feel, ceramic sinks in their natural colours can play the role of brightening up a room, while some models, like Frankes BAK 710 Propack, actually feature compact design, as well as helping to create illusions of space.Another tip offered to prevent a small kitchen feeling too hemmed in was the use of glazed wall cabinets, which could be appealing to many home revampers, providing the cabinets fit in with the rooms overall design.
