Slate grey is a good colour option for farmhouse kitchens, an interiors specialist has said.Jon Holloway, managing director of Garden Trading, commented that while black is very harsh, slate offers a smart, sophisticated look.He made the observations while discussing the colour palate for Garden Tradings latest collection at the Homes4Media event in London.With that [slate] weve got a grey colour, which is just evolving on from everything a few years ago which was a sort of cream colour, he said.We saw a trend with kitchens coming much more in the grey palate, so we softened ours to a grey, putty colour. It looks great next to other colours.Earlier this month, a survey from Bosch power tools found that women are becoming increasingly active in carrying out DIY in the home.The National Home Improvement Council has also noted that there has been a rise in the number of women carrying out home improvement work such as installing new kitchen sinks and taps.
