Skylight draws attention to the kitchen

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

A large skylight has been used to make the kitchen a focal point at an innovatively designed house. Homeowners Mike and Linnea Riley showed the Seattle Times around their stylish, open-plan property. The kitchen and living areas are located upstairs while a skylight covers most of the roof. One is drawn to the light and, therefore, up the stairs to the public spaces of kitchen, living and dining rooms, said the newspaper. The house was designed by the architect George Suyama in the 1980s and went on to feature on the cover of Metropolitan Home magazine. The Rileys said that in renovating the home, they had sought to complement the original features. This included adding soapstone countertops around the kitchen sink to accompany Mr Suyamas birch kitchen cabinets.Last week, interior designer Johnny Grey told the Daily Telegraph that the kitchen has become the main focal point of the home in which families gather to feast, fight and party.ADNFCR-1321-ID-19615583-ADNFCR
