Sink your waste campaign

Worcestershire residents are being asked to sink their waste as part of a drive to cut down on the levels of food waste sent to landfill sites. The campaign has been launched by Worcestershire County Council in a move to try and get residents of Redditch, Droitwich and Bromsgrove to install food waste disposal units and dispose of their food waste in a more environmentally friendly way. A food waste disposer is a device that fits under the kitchen sink and shreds waste food. They fit easily to a standard sink and break down food waste into small particles that can be then be washed away down the drain. Councillor Anthony Blagg said Food waste accounts for around a quarter of all household rubbish. By having a food waste disposer we can dramatically reduce the amount of household waste we send to landfill. Food waste disposers can be purchased from around 50.
