Homeowners expecting visitors over the holiday period may want to update their kitchens with green additions - and achieving an eco-friendly look is not too difficult. This is according to the Liberty Vindicator, which has published tips on green design from Moen Incorporateds Judy Riley.To reduce bottled water at parties, she recommended installing a filter tap at the kitchen sink. Astracast, Abode and Franke each offer taps that filter water and add style to a kitchen or bar. An In-Sink-Erator filter tap also provides filtered water, but offers the choice of chilled or steaming hot water - a welcome option for some winter nights. Ms Riley said products that are more ecologically friendly are quartz work surfaces - a greener alternative to granite - and kitchen cabinets constructed from wood that is not sourced from endangered forests. As for floors, bamboo is more environmentally-friendly than other wood, she said.
