Sellers stripping sinks from homes

Kitchen sinks and other fixtures and fittings are being stripped from houses as sellers look to compensate for lower selling prices, according to AboutProperty.co.uk.Citing research from conveyance firm Convex, the site claimed that kitchen sinks, curtains and many white goods are being taken out of the bargain, allowing homeowners to offset losses on lower than expected selling prices.Convex reportedly found that 60 per cent of home sellers were willing to throw in some of their fixtures and fittings for free in the first half of 2007, while only 35 per cent were prepared to do so in the later half of the year suggesting the impact of the credit crunch. Duncan Samuel, managing director of Convex, was quoted as saying We noticed we were getting more questions from sellers about what they could and could not take and looked back on our records. They showed people were certainly getting tighter about what they were willing to include on the fixtures and fittings form - probably because they were not getting what they hoped for the property.Luckily for homebuyers who find their new kitchen lacking a sink, top manufacturers such as Franke provide a variety of well-priced models to complete the new room.
