An expert has advised people to get advice before taking on major home improvement projects. Many homeowners may think fitting a new kitchen will add value to their property, but the chief executive of the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) has warned against starting developments without specialist advice. Peter Bolton King commented Before you do anything that you think will add value to your property, you should go and seek advice.A recent survey of NAEA members found 17 per cent thought upgrading the kitchen was the best way to increase the value of a home, but Mr Bolton King has suggested homeowners should be careful. He said he remembered one client who had very expensively refitted her kitchen before selling her house, only to find it was not to the taste of the buyer, who disposed of it. There are good quality kitchen sinks and taps available that will suit most home-sellers budgets and buyers tastes, for example County stainless steel sinks and mixer taps.
