Seaside tap sculpture scoops top prize

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

A giant sculpture of a set of taps positioned on a cliff over Bondi Beach has been awarded the Sydney Water and Environmental Prize at this years Sculpture by the Sea Bondi Beach Exhibition. The exhibit Who left the tap running? is the work of Simon McGrath, of Ogilvy and Mather Sydney. The contests 10,000 prize recognised the work as a humorous way of depicting the environmental impact of mankind on our planet. A majority of scientists say global warming is real and that the sea level is rising because of it, said McGrath. By placing a giant set of taps off the cliff at Bondi, my work turns the ocean into a giant sink. The title poses the question of who is responsible for the water level rising? he added.
