Scrubbing and reorganisation is the first place to start any kitchen makeover, according to one industry expert.Betty Nairn, manager of Ohio-based Cabinet-S-Top, says many kitchens arent in bad shape, they are just poorly organised.Speaking to Home and Garden Television she states that clutter will make the most expensive kitchen cramped and unattractive.Ms Nairn advises removing all items from countertops, drawers and cabinets, throwing half of them away and returning the rest to their correct places.Kitchens should be divided into zones for prepping food, cooking and cleaning, she comments. To optimise a kitchens functionality, items should be stored as close as possible to where they are used cooking utensils should be by the stove, cleaning supplies by the sink and dishes near the kitchen table.Drawer and cabinet organisers will make the kitchen more enjoyable to use, Ms Nairn concludes.Almost one-third (29 per cent) of Brits have undertaken or are planning a kitchen refit this year, according to research by LV=.
