School kitchen repair costs millions

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

Teachers in Derby are calling on their council to explain why 2.7 million was spent building a new kitchen and sink accessories for a school in the area. A 2.7 million funding package was provided to Markeaton Primary while teaching assistant Frazer Smith from Mickleover is hoping to raise repair money for his schools kitchen by jumping from a plane, reports Derby newspaper the Sunday Telegraph. Simon Emsley, head teacher at Lakeside Community Primary, said Well done to Markeaton Primary but I can see why heads are upset. This lacks joined-up thinking and not looking at the bigger picture surrounding school meals in the city. The cost of Markeaton Primarys renovation work was initially set to be 1.8 million, though location and boiler issues have increased the cost. People who are considering kitchen improvements may want to buy products from Robert Welch, after Housewarelive.net reported that the design company recently marked its 50th anniversary.
