Revamp the kitchen, without the builders

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

Making your kitchen look as good as new does not always have to involve getting the builders in. As well as saving money, DIY jobs can give an immense feeling of satisfaction and can help to avoid turning the home into a building site.Although not all jobs should be done without builders on hand, the Wichita Eagle cites a few small projects that can be taken on by you and other family members. One task which can be done by a homeowner is replacing old cabinet doors with new ones, but kitchen designer Judy Scott warns to ensure the measurements are accurate.Measure twice and cut once, or measure three times, she told the newspaper. Ive seen far too many people get the measurements just slightly wrong and end up with a full set of doors they cant use, cant return and cant correct because it was custom-cut to fit.Another money-saver is replacing knobs on drawers - which can be cheap but will instantly improve the look of the kitchen. Speaking to the newspaper, L.A.-based interior designer Jennifer Delonge said she recommended replacing a round knob on a drawer and change it for a deep, bronzey pull handle. This, she claims, works particularly well in the kitchen.ADNFCR-1321-ID-18505417-ADNFCR
