Homeowners are choosing to remodel kitchens and other rooms in order to add value during the economic downturn, it has been noted.Greg Miedema, president of US-based Dakota Builders, told the Daily Journal that replacing fixtures such as kitchen sinks and countertops is a popular option.The publication noted that those selling on a home have to compete with new developments and hope that the upgrades will interest potential buyers.Those who do not expect to achieve a sale because of the economic climate are also getting more enjoyment from their properties by remodelling kitchens.One homeowner, Michael Puhala, explained that he and his wife added stainless steel kitchen appliances to an outdated kitchen after two years of failing to sell it.Writing for the Pocono Record this week, interior designer Victoria Castillo suggested that changing kitchen taps can help improve the chances of attracting interest when selling a home.
