Certain kitchen appliances are coming back into fashion due to people being more willing to cook at home during difficult economic conditions, it has been suggested. A poll by bread flour producer Allinsons revealed that UK homeowners are dusting off their breadmakers and slow cookers in efforts to save money during the recession. Of the 3,000 people surveyed, over 80 per cent of people replied that the sandwich maker was the most useful recession-busting kitchen appliance. Vanessa Day-English, marketing manager for the organisation, said These findings reinforce what we suspected that there has been a surge in interest in back to basics tasks such as home baking during the credit crunch.Other steps taken to stave off the economic downturn include using up any left overs and baking from scratch.Earlier this month, Good Magazine reported that a kitchen sink aerator could save people money by reducing the amount of water they use.
