Quartz best choice for busy kitchen countertop, tests show

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

Quartz is the best choice for a countertop material in a busy kitchen, according to tests carried out by Consumer Reports. Some 11 materials were tested, including granite, laminate and paper composite. Each one was evaluated for stain and heat resistance and how easily they are likely to chip.Speaking to ABC Local, Celia Kuperszmid-Lehrman of Consumer Reports, says some sealers were found to spread stains rather than repelling them. The surfaces were also subjected to a pot filled with oil heated to 400 degree C and a heavy weight dropped on them.In finding that quartz is the best choice, the report said It is low maintenance and stain and heat-resistant - but it is pricey.Much less expensive - laminate. It is also excellent at resisting stains and heat damage.Earlier this month Formica announced a new texture for its Axiom range of kitchen worktops.ADNFCR-1321-ID-18693160-ADNFCR
