Quality kitchen can trump other homebuyer concerns

People looking for a new home are often influenced by a pleasant kitchen, it has been claimed. Property firm Rightmove claimed that the kitchen and bathroom were often key factors, claiming that an individual houses charm could often weigh in above pre-established criteria such as location and bedroom numbers. Existing homeowners are often tempted to stick to blander colours in the kitchen when priming a house for sale, but more unique designs can sometimes strike a chord with buyers and speak to them on a personal level. Miles Shipman, commercial director at Rightmove, said [Property seekers] look for nice kitchens and bathrooms, whether they can afford it and [will] start to trade one off against another.Whilst there are basic rules about house buying, emotion comes into it an awful lot when people are emotionally attached to a property and it creates a good impression on them when they go and look at it. A recent Nationwide survey found that 97 per cent of people thought that finding a location in a pleasant neighbourhood was important when considering a new house purchase.
