Property market confidence improves

Written Homeowners who have considered whether it is worth renovating their kitchens to improve the value of their home may be interested by the latest figures from the Building Societies Association (BSA).The findings showed that home buyer confidence has increased, with 59 per cent of people agreeing or tending to agree that now is a good time to buy.Compared to March, this represents a five per cent increase and is more than double the expectations of June 2008.But the housing market may be hampered with rising unemployment and mortgage availability restrictions, the BSA noted, which could mean that boosting a property value with a new kitchen is an idea many Britons have considered. For many, concerns over job security mean that they are unlikely to actually go ahead and buy. They will need to see confidence in the jobs market return before they make their move in the property market, stated Paul Broadhead, head of mortgage policy at the BSA.Increasing the floor space in a home by ten per cent could add five per cent value to a property, according to Homebuilding Renovating Magazine.
