Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

Campaigns to get people off bottled water and back to the taps are well under way, with the environmental case building against the plastic penchant.Claims are being made from more and more quarters for a clampdown on the waste of plastic water containers and the air miles required to bring them to consumers, while taps provide a high-quality, cheaper and greener option.South coast newspaper the Argus said Of all the incredible ideas mankind has had over the years, flying water around the world in nonbiodegradable plastic bottles and selling it at vastly inflated prices is perhaps one of the lesser ones. The journal added that the idea made no sense when water comes from the tap for less than a penny a litre.Tap water in the UK is claimed to be of the best quality in Europe, making the modern British obsession with bottled water a more contentious choice than it would be in a country with water hygiene issues. Some are going further than merely championing taps the Green Party is supporting proposals to ban bottled water from London, after claims that people in the capital drink the equivalent of an Olympic swimming pools worth per week.ADNFCR-1321-ID-18330701-ADNFCR
