UK homeowners are set to adopt a more positive attitude towards improving their property once the summer is over and uncertainty over the countrys economic and political situation eases, an expert has claimed.Andrew Leech, director at the National Home Improvement Council, said that the DIY sector is likely to experience slow progression in the next few months but that activity should increase in the autumn.Once we get the summer over and once we get the government more settled in - if it is going to settle in - then people will be taking a more positive attitude towards their properties and thinking about new kitchens and new bathrooms, he said. His comments come after figures from GfK Retail and Technology UK showed that the DIY and gardening sector saw growth of 2.1 per cent in June, following increases of 4.2 per cent in May and 4.7 per cent in April.Meanwhile, in a column for Deseret News this week, renovators Ann Robinson and Annie V Schwemmer urged homeowners to carefully think about both their needs and budget when choosing appliances and fixtures like kitchen taps and sinks.
