Open-plan kitchens add value

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

Homeowners can add value to their property by combining a kitchen and dining room together, one expert has suggested. Michael Holmes, from Channel Fives I Own Britains Best Home, noted that joining cooking and eating areas into one space will probably improve the selling point of a home. Having fewer walls does seem to create the greater sense of space, he remarked. This means many individuals are either knocking down walls between these two rooms, Holmes stated, or extending food-preparation zones to create a new dining area. Traditionally, places used for eating were often joined to the living room, he explained, but this trend is reversing with more people looking to partition these two spaces and extend the kitchen instead. According to Lloyds TSB, over one million UK residents took on serious structural work to their home in 2008. Of these, 10 per cent claimed it was to boost the value of their house during the current economic climate.ADNFCR-1321-ID-19398973-ADNFCR
