Norfolk town aims to become zero waste

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

Kings Lynn in Norfolk is aiming to become accredited as a Zero Waste Place, it has emerged. If the town is granted this status, it would be one of the first in the UK to achieve this endorsement from the government.A key part of the criteria is redirection of food waste from landfill sites, which will allow it to then be taken for treatment to turn it into reusable materials such as compost. Those living outside Kings Lynn can do their bit for the environment and reduce the amount of food waste they contribute to the nations landfills by using one of the food waste disposal units currently on the market.Swiss manufacturer Franke offers a range of such units, which all feature the firms trademark design and construction quality. Each model features an efficient permanent magnetic motor system, operating at between 2,600rpm and 2,800rpm depending on the model, with a continuous feed system and stainless steel grinding mechanism.Food waste disposal units grind food waste into sufficiently small particles so that it can be directed into the drainage system with ease.A greater benefit is that, by not throwing such waste into the bin, consumers are not contributing to the amount of refuse which finds its way into the nations already overburdened landfill sites.ADNFCR-1321-ID-18837557-ADNFCR
