New spray could banish food poisoning

Homeowners could soon banish food poisoning bugs from the kitchen with a new anti-microbial spray.Developed by scientists at the National Centre for Food Manufacturing and Nottingham Trent University, the spray is almost capable of removing E.coli, listeria and salmonella, reports the Lincolnshire Echo.The newspaper says experts at the University of Lincoln have helped to develop the nanotechnology.Senior food manufacturing lecturer Mark Swainson told the Echo This particular project involves embedding a chemical compound into food surface materials or applying it in spray-on coats.We cant say it kills everything, but it will kill or inhibit many microbes.The spray could soon be used to eliminate microbes found on counter tops and kitchen sinks.Funded by Food and Drink iNet, the spray could soon be used by the dining industry and larger food manufacturers, the newspaper reports.The new range of Franke kitchen sinks could help banish bacteria from the kitchen, reports World Interior Design Network.A hygiene solution is integrated into the bulk material for the new kitchen sinks to keep them free from, bacteria, increasing the overall lifespan of the sink.
