New rules on kitchen worktop disposal

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is to toughen up rules relating to the disposal methods for kitchen worktops impregnated with the antibacterial chemical Triclosan. The move is being made following fears of a potential risk to human health and the environment posed by the chemical. The agency is to consider a requirement for new labeling and waste rules concerning affected worktops. It is also looking at whether Triclosan-impregnated worktops should be designated as hazardous waste to prevent disposal via landfill sites.
