Fitting a new kitchen could add more than 8,466 to the value of a home, a study by GE Money Home Lending shows. The figure equates to a 4.6 per cent increase in the property price and puts a new kitchen fourth on the list of home improvements that see a rise in value.GE Moneys head of mortgage marketing Gerry Bell says the current housing market means more people are looking to improve their home with features such as a new kitchen, rather than move.Region, type of property and location are all factors which will determine which improvement is best for a particular property, with the creation of extra living space continuing to be the best value improvement, he adds.Less costly and drastic improvements such as redecorating are still good returns but naturally lower while energy saving improvements such as installing solar panels are not seen as hot profit generators, the report concludes.Home and Garden Television reported last month that a minor kitchen remodel involving a facelift rather than a drastically different plan could give a return of 98.5 per cent.ADNFCR-1321-ID-18665947-ADNFCR
