New houses need bigger kitchens

By Francis Finch New-build houses in the UK could benefit if they were built with bigger kitchens in mind, one expert has suggested. Prue Leith, cook and chairperson of the School Food Trust, commented that families could be encouraged to talk more if they had access to bigger food-preparation areas, the Daily Telegraph reports. She remarked If the kitchen contained a table, some of the family might choose a conversation over a TV show. Not only this, but a larger kitchen area could spark the desire for families to learn to eat and cook together, she added, something that could forge stronger relationships between relatives. Her comments come after 43 per cent of people surveyed in a Commission for the Built Environment study revealed that they do not have enough space for food preparation in their home. Furthermore, 35 per cent said they do not have enough room for kitchen appliances, which could include sink accessories.ADNFCR-1321-ID-19329575-ADNFCR
