Neutral colours and clean layouts can help to promote classic, timeless kitchen designs, a commentator has said.Laura Fenton, a writer for the design website Shelter Pop, said that because kitchen renovations can be costly and time-consuming, it is sensible to play it safe when it comes to new styles. She added that neutral designs often make it easier for homeowners to sell a property in the future while also offering flexibility should their own tastes change. In discussing design options, Ms Fenton said that classic kitchen designs tend to incorporate a fresh white palette with appliances either in stainless steel or white. She also noted that countertops made from natural, neutral-coloured stone can help to achieve a classic, simple finish in kitchen sink areas. However, Ms Fenton insisted that homeowners still had scope for creativity within such designs. Classic design doesnt mean your kitchen has to be boring. You can give your space personality with accessories, textiles, hardware and wall paint - just opt for uncontroversial permanent fixtures, she said.Earlier this month, interior designers Jasmine Madson and Heidi Coatsworth told ArgusLeader.com that removing clutter and making simple alterations are inexpensive but effective ways of remodelling a home.
